The New Year brought with it a new job. I’m now Curator of History at the Michigan State University Museum. Two months into the job, and I’m already planning several exhibitions while familiarizing myself with the extensive collection. Total immersion: it’s the only way!
I was able to publish several articles despite a lengthy daily commute and other responsibilities during my 15 months of employment at the State Museum of Pennsylvania. Thanks to my supervisor, the wonderful Bradley Smith, my article “Hands on History: White Glove Service at The State Museum” appeared in the Winter 2014 issue of Pennsylvania Heritage.
And I was thrilled to have “Mobilizing the Home Front” published in the New York Times‘ “Disunion” blog in October 2012.
Here’s hoping that I raise my word count in 2014! I’ve books to complete, exhibits to conceptualize and construct, collections to teach and study.
